Becca Barrett

Becca Barrett (they/them) is a voice practitioner with nearly a decade of professional experience as a voice, singing, and accent coach for stage and screen performers as well as business professionals.

My Story

Their approach to voice work combines embodied somatic practice, functional anatomy, and an inclusive and trauma-informed pedagogy to meet the needs of a wide range of clients. While they deliver sessions in all areas of coaching at On Voice, their specialties include:

  • Confidence and presence

  • North American Accents

  • Vocal Health

  • Accessible practice for disabled and/or neurodiverse individuals

  • Gender-Affirming Voice Coaching

  • Singing (Musical Theatre, Popular Music, and Folk)

 

In their creative practice, Becca is passionate about developing new work. Theatrical credits include:

Madonna on the Rocks (Brighton Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe) - Voice Director, Live to Tell: A Proposal for the Madonna Jukebox Musical (Omnibus Theatre, Camden People’s Theatre) - Voice Director, Swan in the Walls (Hope Theatre) - Voice Coach, Game Six (Teatro Tecnis) - Voice Practitioner and Deviser, Fun Home (Kahilu Theatre) - Adult Alison (performer).

 

Becca is the Lead Voice Practitioner on the MA Musical Theatre course at Central School of Speech and Drama, where they design and deliver singing, spoken voice, and accent training. They are also a module leader on the MA Vocal Studies course at the Institute for Contemporary Music Performance, teaching Creative Voice in Application and supervising research. Other educational work includes:

  • Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama

  • Laine Theatre Arts

  • Bird College

  • University for the Creative Arts

 

Becca’s practice is supported by their research through ICMP’s RSSP fund on Consent-based practice in singing teaching and their MFA research into the development of a gender-expansive voice pedagogy. Their research on consent was presented at the VASTA Symposium in Leeds (2024) and the RSSP Conference in London (2025). Publications include:
